Storyteller extraordinary Taffy
Thomas wore one of the most outlandish robes to grace a royal
occasion on 29th October 2002 when he received the MBE at Buckingham
Palace for services to charity.
Taffy from Grasmere, Cumbria wore his silk "Tale Coat" which is covered in pictures from his stories. The coat cost £4,000 and was funded by National Lottery and Northern Arts Board grants.
Taffy said " The Queen was very impressed by the coat. She said 'That's a remarkable garment you're wearing there' and I replied 'Yes Ma'am, and every picture tells a story'."
Liam Neeson was also at the Palace to pick up an OBE
